Development and Fabrication of IoT Based Weed Elimination Module Using Object Recognition and 2.5 WLaser

Abstract

Weed growth significantly affects agricultural productivity by competing with crops for nutrients, water, and sunlight. Conventional weed control methods such as manual weeding and chemical herbicides are labour-intensive, costly, and harmful to the environment. This paper presents the development and fabrication of an IoT-based weed elimination module using object recognition and a 2.5 W laser, offering an automated, eco-friendly, and precise weed control solution. The proposed system systemutilizes a camera-basedobjectrecognition algorithm to differentiate weeds from crops in real time. Once a weed is detected, a high-precision 2.5 Wlaser moduleisactivated to eliminate the weed without damaging the surrounding crops. The system is controlled by a microcontroller integrated with IoT connectivity for remote monitoring and data analysis. Experimental results demonstrate effective weed detection and elimination with reduced human intervention, minimal energy consumption, and zero chemical usage. This system provides a sustainable solution for precision agriculture and smart farming applications.
